1. What does Helena do?
Helena offers virtually every input that is used in production agriculture. This includes fertilizer, seed, crop protection materials, nutritional as well as consulting, application, financial and precision ag services. Helena also researches and manufactures its own line of products. Locally we seek to find out what specific needs our grower customers have and backfill those with the products and solutions they require. That can be as simple as delivering the products growers order or as complex as providing weekly field scouting and recommendations from our talented and experienced team of PCA, CCA’s.
2. What is your position at Helena and when did you join the company?
I am the Branch Manager for the Merced and Firebaugh Helena locations. As such I have leadership responsibilities over the Sales Team as well as the Operation’ Mangers at each location. My focus is to empower our sales and operational teams and provide them the tools they need to deliver on our promise of industry leading customer service.
3. Where did the name Helena come from?
Helena originated from a single site in Helena, Arkansas in 1954. While Helena still has its original location it is now headquartered in Collierville, Tennessee and has over 500 locations across the country and nearly 6000 employees.
4. What areas does Helena service?
Helena is a national company as mentioned. The Merced and Firebaugh locations provide our products and services to growers in Merced, Madera and Wests Fresno counties.
5. What is your favorite part about working in the Agriculture industry?
I very much enjoy the cyclical nature of Ag and the fact that each year brings new challenges and opportunities. It is fulfilling to take on the obstacles of each season and help our growers harvest high yielding and quality crops. It is equally fulfilling to be a leader in a company that has a focus on its employees and its culture. I have always equated my success with that of the people I serve and today that includes growers and the employees I manage.
6. Tell us something unique about yourself and what you like to do during your free time?
I am a father of 3 great children who will all be in college this fall. My children are my greatest source of pride. When I find some free time I spend it playing golf or flying my Bonanza.
